May 6th- Event Day Slay!!

 After getting a good night’s rest, we woke up early this morning to prepare for the World of Hospitality’s (WOH) Nature’s Symphony. The service and bar team put tablecloths on tables while the other teams were blowing balloons for the kids club. After a few hours of work, we stopped for brunch before splitting up into our teams to complete final details. The first guests got to the event around 11:50 and we continued to receive guests for the next few hours. The guest and venue team welcomed and checked in guests. The service and bar team handed out champagne to the first handle of guests while other team members walked around picking up empty glasses. As the day went on, we heard music from event volunteers and from our very own Lexi on the piano! Around 300 guests came to the event which was so amazing! The food and drink menu that the WOH students created was absolutely incredible, especially the kabobs. Four hours later, the event ended and we started cleaning up, which included taking down decorations, clearing tables, and cleaning back of house rooms. After a long hard day, we had dinner and some students went out for a walk and got to explore the city a little.

May 14th- The end of our adventure...

 May 14th, Sunday -  Today was our last full day in Switzerland and we are so sad to go.  Although we are packing back up and preparing to head home, we did get to squeeze in a few more cool things. We slept in this morning, hitting the town at 10:00 AM. We went straight to the old town and saw the FIFA museum and a beautiful cathedral. At the FIFA museum, we learned a lot about this huge sporting event that so many around the world are so passionate about. After FIFA, we hopped on a tram towards the Grossmunster Cathedral which was beautiful. I have really enjoyed seeing all of the old huge cathedrals and learning about some of the historical culture which is so important to the people here. May 4th- Travel Day!

  Au Revoir USA!!          Howdy from Switzerland!! We are so excited about this trip and are glad that each of you is following along on our blog. Day 1 of our trip was primarily traveling. Some of us started the morning by taking the shuttle from College Station to the IAH airport, while others were brought by family or friends. After a brief meeting with the whole group, we had a long wait until check-in for our flight, so we had a lot of time to chat and catch up with one another. I snapped a few cute pictures of our group while we were hanging out!          After making it through the check-in line and checking our bags, we went through security and grabbed lunch! May 9th- Castles and (Olympic) Champions!

 Howdy! Dr. Sullins here! It has been such a blast getting to know all these students so much better throughout this trip, as we have shared snacks, life stories, and umbrellas in the rain. I'm so pleased that all the group is getting along so well and truly supportive of each other on this journey. Hearing the moments of revelation, learning, and reflection as they happen in this very new and different place remind me why I take the time and effort to arrange these kinds of experiences for students! This morning we got to enjoy a traditional European breakfast in the hotel (which we love!) with sliced dried meat, cheese, and bread, croissants (many of us with Nutella!), fruit, and some cereals. They did make some hot scrambled eggs to please the visitors as well. We loaded up on the bus with Bruno, who has been our bus driver from the start, and drove to Chillon Castle.
